AI Features Terms

Last updated: June 15, 2026

Version 1.0

1. Overview

BookAuth offers optional AI-assisted features (for example, review insights, content suggestions, summarization, and similar tools) ("AI Features"). These AI Features Terms ("AI Terms") are incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and apply when you use any AI Feature. Use of AI Features is optional; the Service works without them.

2. How AI Features Work

AI Features are powered by third-party AI model providers (such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or others) and/or BookAuth's own processing. Your inputs (prompts, selected content) and the outputs (suggestions, summaries) are processed to provide the feature. You are responsible for your inputs and for reviewing outputs before using or publishing them.

3. Ownership of Inputs & Outputs

  • Your inputs. You retain ownership of content you submit as input. You grant BookAuth and its AI providers a limited, non-exclusive license to process your inputs solely to provide the AI Feature to you.
  • Outputs. To the extent permitted by law and by our providers' terms, you may use the outputs you generate. U.S. law generally does not recognize copyright in purely machine-generated content; only human-authored, creative contributions are protectable. You are responsible for ensuring your use of outputs does not infringe third-party rights.

4. We Do Not Train on Your Content

BookAuth does not use your content, books, manuscripts, reviews, or subscriber data to train our own foundational AI models. Where AI Features are provided by third-party model providers, your use of those features is also subject to the provider's terms; we configure our usage to the extent feasible to avoid training on your content, but you should be aware that provider terms may differ. If BookAuth's training practices change, we will update these AI Terms and notify you.

You may not use other users' content (or BookAuth's content) to train AI models without the rights to do so. For example, do not input another author's unpublished manuscript into a third-party AI tool.

5. Disclaimers & Risks

AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, offensive, or produce content similar to existing works. AI Features are provided for assistance only and are not professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or editorial). You must independently verify outputs before relying on or publishing them. To the maximum extent permitted by law, AI Features are provided "as is" without warranties, and BookAuth disclaims liability for outputs. The limitation of liability in our Terms of Service applies to AI Features.

6. Acceptable Use of AI Features

You must not use AI Features to:

  • Generate content that violates our Acceptable Use Policy or applicable law;
  • Impersonate, defame, or harm any person, including by simulating their likeness or voice in violation of right-of-publicity laws;
  • Generate CSAM or content sexualizing minors;
  • Infringe IP rights or produce unauthorized derivative works;
  • Create deceptive, fraudulent, or manipulative content;
  • Circumvent provider safety measures or rate limits.

7. Disclosure & Attribution

Some jurisdictions and platforms require disclosure when content is substantially AI-generated (for example, when publishing reviews or marketing). You are responsible for complying with applicable disclosure obligations for content you publish.

8. Changes

AI technology and the law in this area are evolving. We may update these AI Terms from time to time; continued use of AI Features after changes constitutes acceptance.
