Terry Pratchett

Sir Terence David John Pratchett, commonly known as Terry Pratchett, was an acclaimed English novelist celebrated for his humorous contributions to the fantasy genre. He gained widespread fame for his long-running Discworld series, which began with *The Colour of Magic* in 1983, and his debut novel, *The Carpet People*, was published in 1971. Recognized as the best-selling author in the UK during the 1990s, Pratchett sold over 55 million books, earning translations in 36 languages, and was a notable figure in both the UK and US literary scenes. In 2001, he received the Carnegie Medal for his young adult work, *The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents*.
