James Oliver Rigney Jr., better known by his pen name Robert Jordan, was an American author celebrated for his epic fantasy series *The Wheel of Time*. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1948, he served two tours in Vietnam before embarking on his writing career in 1977. Jordan's most significant work, *The Wheel of Time*, is a vast saga that explores complex themes and is known for its detailed world-building, consisting of fourteen novels and a prequel, with the series concluding posthumously through the efforts of author Brandon Sanderson. Alongside his fantasy writing, he also published works in various genres under several pseudonyms.
