Troubleshooting Login Issues

If you're having trouble logging in to BookAuth, work through these solutions in order.

Common Issues & Solutions

"Invalid email or password"

1. Check your email — ensure it matches the one you registered with
2. Reset your password — click "Forgot Password" on the login page
3. Check for typos — verify caps lock isn't on
4. Try SSO — if you registered with Google or GitHub, use those buttons instead

"Account not found"

• You may have registered with a different email
• Try all email addresses you commonly use
• Check if you registered through Google/GitHub SSO (use those login options)

Google/GitHub SSO Not Working

1. Clear your browser cookies for BookAuth
2. Try in an incognito/private window
3. Ensure you're selecting the correct Google/GitHub account
4. Check if your Google/GitHub account has been suspended

Two-Factor Authentication Issues

• Lost authenticator app? Use your backup recovery codes
• Lost recovery codes? Contact support with proof of identity
• Code is "invalid"? Check your device clock — TOTP codes are time-sensitive

"Too many login attempts"

• Wait 15 minutes, then try again
• This is a security measure against brute-force attacks
• If you didn't attempt these logins, change your password immediately

Password Reset

1. Go to the login page
2. Click "Forgot Password"
3. Enter your email address
4. Check your email for the reset link (check spam folder)
5. Click the link and create a new password
6. Log in with your new password

Reset Email Not Arriving?

• Check your spam/junk folder
• Wait 5-10 minutes
• Check you entered the correct email
• Try requesting the reset again
• Contact support if still not receiving

Still Can't Log In?

• Your registered email address
• What type of login you're attempting (email/password, Google, GitHub)
• Any error messages you're seeing
• Screenshots if possible
