When you have a growing catalog, making changes one book at a time becomes tedious. BookAuth's bulk operations let you select multiple books and apply actions across all of them at once.

What You'll Learn

  • How to select multiple books
  • Available bulk actions
  • Best practices for bulk management
  • When to use bulk vs. individual editing

Selecting Multiple Books

  1. Navigate to Content > My Books (List View)
  2. Check the checkbox next to each book you want to include
  3. Select All — use the checkbox in the table header to select all visible books
  4. A selection counter appears: "3 books selected"

Available Bulk Actions

Once books are selected, the "Bulk Actions" dropdown appears at the top:

Action What It Does
Change Status Set all selected books to Published or Draft
Add to Series Assign selected books to a specific series
Apply Genre Add a genre tag to all selected books

Changing Status in Bulk

Use this to:

  • Publish multiple draft books simultaneously (e.g., a series launch)
  • Unpublish a set of books (e.g., seasonal content rotation)
  • Move experimental drafts to Draft status in batch

Assigning Series in Bulk

Use this to:

  • Retroactively create a series from standalone books
  • Move books between series

Applying Genres in Bulk

Use this to:

  • Standardize genre tagging across your catalog
  • Add a new genre to existing books after genre taxonomy updates

Workflow: Series Launch Day

Here's a common workflow for launching an entire series at once:

  1. Create all books as Drafts — complete metadata, covers, manuscripts
  2. Create the series (Content > Series > + New Series)
  3. Select all series books using checkboxes
  4. Bulk action: Add to Series — assign them all at once
  5. Rearrange book order in the series editor (drag-and-drop)
  6. Select all books again
  7. Bulk action: Change Status to Published
  8. All books go live simultaneously

Limitations

  • Bulk pricing changes are not currently supported — pricing must be set individually per book
  • Bulk tag editing is not supported — tags are set on individual book pages
  • Bulk delete is not available for safety reasons — delete books individually

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If I bulk-publish 10 books, do they all go live instantly?
A: Yes. Status changes are immediate. All 10 books become searchable and visible at the same moment.

Q: Can I undo a bulk action?
A: There's no single "undo" button. You can re-select the books and apply the reverse action (e.g., change back to Draft).

Q: Is there a limit to how many books I can select?
A: You can select all books visible on the current page. Navigate between pages to add more selections.
