How to switch between Author, Reader, and Professional roles on BookAuth — accessing role-specific dashboards and features.

BookAuth supports multiple roles on a single account. You can be an Author, Reader, and Professional simultaneously, switching between them as needed.

How Roles Work

Each role provides a different dashboard and set of features:

Role Dashboard Shows Key Features
Author Books, sales, subscribers, website Publishing, ARC campaigns, newsletters
Reader Reading list, ARCs, reviews Book discovery, reviews, book clubs
Professional Listings, requests, portfolio Service marketplace, client management

Switching Roles

Method 1: Role Switcher

Click the role selector in the sidebar or top navigation bar. Select your desired role — the dashboard immediately changes.

Method 2: Settings

Navigate to Settings > Roles to enable or disable roles and set your default.

Enabling a New Role

If you haven't activated a role yet:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Roles
  2. Click "Enable" next to the desired role
  3. Complete the role-specific setup (e.g., Professional requires profile review)

Setting Your Default Role

Your default role determines which dashboard loads when you log in:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Roles
  2. Click "Set as Default" next to your preferred role

Profile (name, avatar, email) ✅ Shared across all roles
Books published Author role only
Reading list & reviews Reader role only

Subscription plan ✅ Shared (one subscription covers all roles)
