Account Deletion Guide
How to permanently delete your BookAuth account — what happens to your data, books, subscribers, and how to export before deleting.
If you decide to leave BookAuth, you can permanently delete your account. This guide explains the process, what happens to your data, and how to export your information first.
Before Deleting
Export Your Data
Navigate to Settings > Data > Export and download:
- ✅ Your books and metadata (CSV)
- ✅ Your subscriber list (CSV)
- ✅ Your revenue reports (CSV/PDF)
- ✅ Your reviews (JSON)
- ✅ Your blog posts and pages (HTML)
Settle Outstanding Revenue
- Ensure all pending payouts have been processed through Stripe
- Download your annual revenue reports for tax purposes
Download Your Manuscripts
- Re-download any manuscript files from Content > My Books
- These files will be permanently deleted
Deleting Your Account
- Navigate to Settings > Account
- Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section
- Click "Delete Account"
- Type "DELETE" to confirm
- Enter your password
- Click "Permanently Delete"
What Happens After Deletion

| Author Website | Taken offline, subdomain released |

| Reviews (by others) | Remains on book pages (until books are deleted) |
| Revenue Data | Retained for 7 years per legal requirements |
| Stripe Connection | Disconnected — contact Stripe to close your Stripe account separately |
| Purchases (as reader) | Download files remain on your device; library access revoked |
Timeline
- Immediate: Your account is deactivated, website goes offline
- 30 days: All data is permanently and irreversibly deleted
- During the 30-day window: Contact support if you change your mind

Q: Can I undo an account deletion?
A: Within 30 days, contact support to cancel the deletion. After 30 days, deletion is irreversible.
Q: Will readers lose access to books they purchased from me?
A: Readers who already downloaded your book files retain those files. However, re-download links will stop working.
Q: Can I create a new account with the same email?
A: Yes, after the 30-day deletion period completes.
