Your service listings are your storefront on BookAuth's marketplace. A well-crafted listing converts browsing authors into paying clients.
Creating a Listing
- Navigate to Services > My Listings
- Click "+ New Listing"
- Configure each section:
Title
Make it specific: "Developmental Editing for Fantasy & Sci-Fi" performs better than "Editing Services."
Description
Structure your description:
- What's included — specific deliverables
- Your process — how you work
- Turnaround — realistic timelines
- What you need from the author — manuscript format, brief, etc.
Pricing
| Pricing Model | Best For | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Per word | Editing services | $0.02/word for copy editing |
| Per project | Cover design, formatting | $500 for eBook cover |
| Per hour | Consulting, coaching | $75/hour |
| Range | When scope varies | $300-$800 depending on length |
Portfolio
Upload your best work samples. For each sample, include:
- The project thumbnail/image
- Brief description of what you did
- Genre or category
Listing Optimization
- Use keywords in your title and description that authors search for
- Specify genres — genre-specialist listings outperform generalist ones
- Include testimonials — past client quotes in your description
- Keep pricing transparent — authors prefer clear pricing over "contact for quote"
- Update regularly — refresh your listing monthly to maintain visibility
